Getting here: Fly into San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), which has frequent direct flights from most major U.S. cities — no passport required for U.S. citizens, since Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory. From SJU, it’s about a 45-minute drive north along the coast to Vega Baja. We recommend renting a car for the week; it makes day trips to nearby beaches, restaurants and attractions far easier than relying on rideshare.
What to pack: Reef-safe sunscreen, a light rain jacket for brief afternoon showers, water shoes for the rocky natural pools, and at least one nicer outfit if you’re planning a dinner out. Beach gear like kayaks and paddleboards are already provided at the estate, so leave that at home.
A simple 5-day itinerary: Spend day one settling in and recovering from travel by the pool. Day two, hit Puerto Nuevo Beach in the morning and Villa Pesquera Cibuco for lunch. Day three, book the Cueva Ventana tour and make it a half-day adventure. Day four, slow down with kayaking at Laguna Tortuguero and an evening at the fire pit. Save day five for whatever you missed — or just one more lap down the waterslide.
